Heatwave in April

The weather has been unbelievably hot for this time of year and it's not only us humans that are wilting but our gardens are suffering too. I suppose we will soon be told there is a hosepipe ban in April!

The warm weather and the Royal Wedding has led to a flurry of poeple at the garden centres and plants are literally flying off the shelves. I have never been so busy myself designing and planting, I come home crawling up the stairs! The best part of the month so far has been planting up two large formal ponds and being able to be in the water enjoying my glamourous waders for once!

This is such an exciting time in the garden. New growth is everywhere and the extra sunshine has brought out so many plants now that you would think it was well into May. I love the spring and be able to stay outside for most of the day is an added bonus.

I am very lucky to have some lovely projects to work on this year and with a small design for Chelsea, I am really excited about creating special gardens for my clients. With a treehouse going in one garden next week, and two huge herbaceous borders next week full of blues, purples and whites, I just wish I had time for my own garden!
