Beach Combing

I have just returned from beach combing in West Wittering. I went with my little dog toffee to collect seaweed and shells and get inspiration for the trade stand I have designed at Chelsea for The British Plant Nursery Guide.

Despite the wind blowing, the sand was soft and there was plenty to collect and now my car smells rather fishy! I have also been eating mussells by the dozen in order to save the shells and I'm not sure I like them anymore!

We start the build on Thursday 19th of May and have an old Morris Minor Traveller car arriving as well as an oak framed beach hut. Tons of sand will form small sand dunes and vintage props will be used to create a Cornish beach scene. The theme is Kate and William on the honeymoon in Cornwall with plants from small independant British nurseries.

The weather looks good for the build and it seems we will have little rain again in May so watering is going to be an issue as it is for most of us. This is the ideal time to think about installing a watering system. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to put in.

These past couple of months I have been very busy and I am working on three large projects. One garden has had a bespoke treehouse installed which has changed the lives of four very happy children.I am hoping I may get a day off in November!
