I am exhausted from having spent another whole day walking round Chelsea Flower Show.I had previously been on the Sunday before the show opened and it was exciting to see the final flurry of builders, designers, plantsmen and cameras all jostling for an inch of space. Today was the same , so many people everywhere ,it was impossible to find any space to even stand. I have been going to Chelsea for many years now and will no doubt one day do my seventh show garden and mingle with Royalty!

Tired from all the walking,I came home to find the cat sitting wide eyed in front of the fireplace-I know that look I thought-there is a poor little mouse hiding from a dribbling excited cat! Bored with having waited so long, the cat disappeared outside and left me sitting there like a fool desperate to save the little creature with every kitchen utensil I could find to try and trap it. By the end of an hour I was wishing the cat would come in and find it’s new toy and kill it! So much for my saving small furry creatures.

Tomorrow it’s off to a nursery to source plants for a garden I have designed in Wiltshire. I am going to plant up a traditional parterre with varieties of roses, nepeta, alchemilla, geraniums, lavender and buxus.Very traditional but subtly planted and with large groups of softly scented planting.
